Dances from Hispaniola: Merengue, Bachata, Kompa (Boone NC)

Class will start at 7:00. Students will learn Merengue, Bachata, and Kompa.  All of these dances are fun and easy to learn!

Class will be followed by a social at the studio from 8:00-10:00.

Some of my bonifides: 

I have been teaching Afro Latin Dance since 2007. I hold two certifications as a Latin Dance instructor. I hold a Master's in Teaching and have applied some of my classroom strategies to dance studio classes. I teach a course on the History of Afro Latin Dance and Music for Francis Marion University as I feel it is important to share the African roots of the dances I teach.

The Plan:

To warm up I will be teaching Merengue and will transition from it to foundation steps for Bachata. Using these steps I will teach a short and simple combination. Foundations for Kompa will follow and then you will get to create your own combination.

The workshop will move at a sprightly pace so I will not be teaching any crazy complicated steps. My teaching style is very student centered and interactive. Dress comfortably and come ready to have fun dancing!
